Oath of Office Requirements
All Board and Committee Members, whether elected or appointed, must be sworn in upon each appointment and reappointment.
You are required to take the oath of office before attending your first meeting, even if you are returning to a previously held position.
The oath affirms your commitment to the faithful performance of your duties.
The Town Clerk or Assistant Town Clerk are available to swear you in during normal business hours. To schedule a swearing-in at a different time, please contact the Town Clerk directly at (508) 576-8453.
Additionally, within two (2) weeks of each appointment or reappointment, all Board and Committee Members must acknowledge receipt of the Open Meeting Law and the State Conflict of Interest Law. These requirements will be reviewed with you during your swearing-in, and you will receive the necessary compliance documents at that time.
Resignations
A committee member who is no longer able to serve or who no longer desires to serve should resign promptly so that the vacancy may be filled. A written resignation shall be submitted to the Town Clerk, with a copy to the Committee Chair and the appointing authority.
(MGL Chapter 41 Section 109).
