Why Compost?

Composting provides several benefits:

Cost Savings - Reduced the amount of trash bags, trash stickers, and leaf bags you need to purchase.

Environmental Savings - In Massachusetts 20% of your trash is food and 30% is compostable. Composting saves waste from going into our landfill which are filling up quickly and estimated to start closing in 2031. 

When food is brought to your landfill it starts breaking down immediately and creates Methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. 

Soil Savings - Compost is the perfect soil amendment. If your soil is too sandy, compost adds moisture retention. If your soil contains mostly clay, compost adds structure and drainage. Compost also creates valuable nutrients and microbes for your soil, benefiting your plants and flowers.
