- Tree Management Program
Welcome to the Town of Plainville's Tree Management Program page. The purpose of this program is to preserve trees throughout the community through the application of best management practices and public education. The Town is fortunate to have such a beautiful population of trees, including magnificent individual trees, groupings of trees, and native trees which give the Town a unique character. Trees are a source of shade, air conditioning, and other environmental benefits, and yield both a high quality of life and economic benefits to the community, including enhanced property values.
By assuring the preservation and protection through regulation and standards of care, these natural resources will remain significant contributions to the landscape, streets, and parks and continue to help define Plainville. The Department of Public Works provides maintenance for Town-owned trees on the right-of-way including trimming of dead limbs and removal of dead and diseased trees. Tree trimming is performed to remove dead or diseased limbs and remove potential hazards to pedestrians, cyclists, vehicular traffic, buses, and emergency vehicles. The Department of Public Works will organize, plan and oversee the annual contractual tree maintenance program.
