Veterans’ Services District welcomes Scott M. Smith

The North Attleborough – Plainville – Wrentham Veterans’ Services District 

welcomes Scott M. Smith as New Veterans' Service Officer

North Attleboro, MA, August 13, 2024 – The Tri-Town Veterans District is proud to announce the appointment of Scott M. Smith, USMC (Ret), as the new Veterans' Service Officer. With a distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps and extensive experience in leadership, operations, and veteran advocacy, Scott is poised to significantly impact the lives of veterans in our communities.

Scott M. Smith brings over three decades of military service to his new role, having served in various capacities that highlight his exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence. His most recent position as a Marine Instructor at William E. Tolman Senior High School in Pawtucket, RI, involved the successful establishment of the MCJROTC Program, where he provided instruction and mentorship to young cadets, preparing them for future careers in the military and beyond.

Throughout his military career, Scott demonstrated expertise in operational and strategic planning, as well as a strong ability to build effective relationships at all levels of an organization. His roles have included Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commander at Joint Task Force, Guantanamo Bay, where he played a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and humane care of detainees, and Sergeant Major at Marine Forces Pacific, Honolulu, HI, where he managed human resources programs and coordinated high-visibility special events.

In addition to his professional experience, Scott has been actively involved in various volunteer organizations dedicated to supporting veterans, including the Pawtucket, RI Veterans Council, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, and the Semper Fi Society of Boston. His dedication to veteran causes is evident in his ongoing commitment to these organizations.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Hawaii Pacific University. His educational background and extensive training and experience make him exceptionally well-qualified to serve as the Veterans' Service Officer.

As a Veterans' Service Officer, Scott will assist veterans and their families with accessing the benefits and services they are entitled to and provide guidance and support as they navigate the challenges of post-military life.
