Vacancies on Boards & Committees

The Town has vacancies on several boards and committees. If you would like to make a difference in the Plainville community and are interested in joining any of the boards and/or committees listed below, please fill out the Availability Card for Boards and Committees and submit via email to bnoble@plainville.ma.us
Community Preservation Committee
There are currently two vacancies, each 3-year terms. The committee shall study the needs, possibilities and resources of the Town regarding community preservation and consult with existing municipal boards.
Council on Aging
Four associate member vacancies, each 1-year terms. This Committee consists of nine members with staggered three-year terms, and four associate members with one-year terms. The center’s mission is to enhance and promote the best quality of life for elders from Plainville and surrounding communities.
Historical Commission
Two associate member vacancies, each 1-year terms. Seven members with staggered three-year terms and four associate members with one-year terms comprise the Historical Commission. The mission of the Historical Commission is to protect and preserve the community’s historical assets for the education, enjoyment, and benefit of current and future generations.
Keep Plainville Beautiful Committee
Two vacancies, each 3-year terms. The committee works with the community to make Plainville a cleaner and greener place to live, work, and play. They have joined 40 municipalities in Massachusetts in their quest to keep the town, our state and our country beautiful.
Local MA Cultural Council
There are currently several vacancies with staggered term endings. This is a 22-member Committee, with each member serving a three-year term. The Plainville LCC awards grants to support a broad range of cultural activities, including field trips. The funds are awarded to a school, a Town department, an organization, or an individual.
Open Space and Recreation Committee
There are currently four vacancies, each 1-year terms. This Committee has nine members with one-year terms. The purpose of the Committee is to guide and plan for future uses pertaining to open space and recreation in the Town.
Tri-County Regional School Committee
There is currently one 3-year term. Established in 1977, Tri-County’s mission is to provide an excellent comprehensive technical and academic education to regional high school students.
Veterans’ District Advisory Board
There are currently two seats, each 1-year terms.
Veterans’ Memorial Committee
Three vacancies currently available. This Committee consists of five members with three-year staggered terms. The committee is charged with making proposals for honoring our veterans, especially those killed in action in the service of our country, to make a regular report of their progress to the Select Board, and to solicit wide and comprehensive guidance from various groups recognized by the Committee.
Zoning Board of Appeals
Two associate member vacancies each 1-year terms. This Board consists of five members with five-year staggered terms and two associate members with one-year terms—the Zoning Board of Appeals issues special permits and variances where required by zoning. The Board also issues comprehensive permits for 40B projects.
