The existing Mirimichi Bridge is structurally deficient. The replacement of the Mirimichi Bridge will include the removal of the existing bridge; construction of a new concrete bridge, with guardrails and appropriate signage.

The Mirimichi Bridge Replacement Project has been completed. The bridge was reopened to traffic and the temporary detour has been deactivated. The Town would like to thank the many residents that were impacted by this closure for their continued patience during the construction. At this time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no formal ceremony for the bridge opening. However, the Town will plan to commemorate this event at a later date once it is safe for the public to attend.

The Plainville Department of Public Works would like to advise residents, motorists and pedestrians that the temporary closure of the Mirimichi Bridge began on Monday, September 23, 2019. It is anticipated that the Mirimichi Bridge will be temporarily closed for replacement through the Spring of 2020.
Variable message signs have been deployed in the area to alert commuters of the closure. Construction activities will take place Monday through Saturday between the hours of 7:00AM and 4:00PM (weather permitting) with detours in effect.
