Coming Soon to a Mailbox Near You! The 2026 Annual Street List/Census

Town of Plainville Posted on December 31, 2025

Plainville residents should be on the lookout for the 2026 Annual Street List/Census update form arriving the beginning of January.  Please sign and respond to this mailing within 10 days, even if there are no changes.  You may return your Annual Street List/Census by mail or in person.

The amount of State and Federal Aid our town receives is based on population, so it is very important to have an accurate count of our residents. The local census is also used to:

  • help determine public safety and senior citizens’ needs
  • maintain voting lists
  • aid in school enrollment projections
  • provide certain privileges such as veterans benefits
  • serve as proof of residency for state colleges and universities
  • and much more.

Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 51 requires that cities and towns conduct an Annual Street List/Census of its residents each year.  Failure to respond to this mailing shall result in removal from the active voting list and may result in removal from the voter registration rolls.

Please note: A Dog License Form will be included with every census mailing.  If you own a dog, please complete and return that form too. All dogs must be licensed by February 26, 2026.
