Vacancies on Boards & Committees 

 

The Town currently has vacancies on several boards and committees.  If you are interested in making a difference in the Plainville community, and are interested in joining any of the boards and/or committees listed below, please fill out the Availability Card for Boards and Committees and submit via email to bnoble@plainville.ma.us 

 

Council on Aging

Three associate member vacancies each with terms ending June 30, 2023.

This committee consists of nine members with staggered three year terms, and four associate members with one year terms.   Please click on the link for more information on the Council on Aging.  

Historical Commission

One associate member vacancy with a term ending June 30, 2023.


Seven members with staggered three year terms, and 4 associate members each with one year terms comprise the Historical Commission.   The mission of the Historical Commission is to protect and preserve the community’s historical assets for the education, enjoyment, and benefit of current and future generations. 

Local MA Cultural Council

There are currently several vacancies each with terms ending June 30, 2025.

This is a 22 member committee with each member serving a three year term.  The Plainville LCC awards grants to support a broad range of cultural activities including field trips.  The funds are awarded to a school, a Town department, an organization, or an individual.   

Plainville Housing Authority

There is currently one vacancy.  The Housing Authority seat is typically an elected position, however, due to a recent early resignation, the position will be jointly appointed by the Select Board and the Housing Authority until the next Town election in April 2024.

The Plainville Housing Authority is a government agency that operates and manages public housing in Norfolk County.  The Housing Authority oversees low-income housing, including the application process, eligibility guidelines, and related resources.

Taxation Aid Committee

Two citizens’ vacancies each with terms ending June 30, 2023.

This is a five member committee consisting of the Chair of the Board of Assessors (or designee), the Town Treasurer (or designee), and three citizens serving one year terms. The mission of the committee is to provide aid to low-income elderly and disabled residents to defray the costs of their property taxes. 

Zoning Board of Appeals 

One associate member vacancy with a term ending June 30, 2023. 

This Board consists of 5 members with 5 year staggered terms, and 2 associate members with 1 year terms. The Zoning Board of Appeals issues special permits and variances where required by zoning.  The Board also issues comprehensive permits for 40B projects.
