Plainville Celebrates Outstanding Achievement in Energy Conservation

Town of Plainville Posted on December 12, 2024

The Town is proud to announce that Jim Marot, a dedicated team member, has been honored by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for his exceptional efforts in reducing the Town’s municipal energy consumption by an impressive 20%. This remarkable accomplishment was recognized as part of the Green Communities Program, administered under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 25A, Section 10.

The Green Communities Program encourages municipalities across the state to implement initiatives that enhance energy efficiency and promote renewable energy use. Plainville’s milestone is a testament to the hard work and innovative approaches championed by Mr. Marot and the entire municipal team. This achievement underscores our commitment to sustainability and responsible energy management, benefiting both the environment and the community.

“This recognition highlights the dedication and ingenuity of our team, particularly Jim Marot, who has led the charge in making our town a model for energy efficiency,” said Brian Noble, Town Administrator. “Reaching this 20% reduction not only helps combat climate change but also results in significant cost savings for our taxpayers.”

The initiatives undertaken to achieve this goal include upgrading municipal facilities with energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, investing in renewable energy projects, and promoting best practices in energy conservation throughout town operations. These efforts align with the broader goals of the Green Communities Program, positioning Plainville as a leader in sustainable municipal management.

The Town of Plainville extends its gratitude to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for its continued support and resources provided through the Green Communities Program. We also thank our residents and staff for embracing the changes necessary to achieve this milestone.

As we celebrate this achievement, we reaffirm our commitment to pursuing further advancements in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. Plainville is dedicated to building a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
