Summer Recreation Program

The Summer Recreation Program is open to children entering 1st—8th grade in September 2018.  Each week will feature a field trip (included in weekly price) as well as daily activities including sports, field games, swimming, board games, arts and crafts, table games, and more! Our summer program runs Monday's through Friday's from 8:30AM to 4:00PM at the Plainville Town Park.


 

2018 Dates

The Summer Recreation Program will begin the week of June 25th and run for eight (8) weekly sessions ending on Friday, August 17th. On rainy days, the program will be held at the Wood School. Space is limited, and filled on a first come basis!  Sign up early!!!!!!!

  • Week Two:  July 2nd – July 6th  ($160) USA Skates NO program Wednesday July 4th!!!
  • Week Three:  July 9th – July 13th ($160) Patriots Hall of Fame
  • Week Four:  July 16th – July 20th ($160) Southwick's Zoo
  • Week Five:  July 23rd - July 27th ($160) Monster Mini Golf (1st - 4th) & Lazer Gate (5th - 8th)
  • Week Six:  July 30th – Aug 3rd ($160) Pinz Bowling
  • Week Seven:  August 6th – Aug 10th ($160) Launch Trampoline Park
  • Week Eight:  August 13th – Aug 17th ($160) Jump Trax

2018 Rates

The registration fee for a one-week session is $160. Weekly field trips and special events are included in the registration fee! A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 per week/per child is due at registration.

Discounted rates for families signing up multiple children or one child for multiple weeks. Third child in a family is FREE (1st -8th grade)!

2018 prices will be honored for anyone signing up by June 1st. Signups and deposits received after June 1st will have increased rates! (See below)

Daily Sign-Ups

Daily signups will be taken after June 1st if space allows at a fee of $50/day OR $25/half day. Half day hours either 8:30AM - 12:30PM OR 12:00PM - 4:00PM. Any child attending a half day DOES NOT attend any scheduled field trips!


**NEW** Extended Care

BEFORE & AFTER CARE: Due to the high volume of requests, the Park Department has decided to offer before and after care this summer for families who need extended hours in the morning and/or afternoon.

  • Before Care 7:30AM - 8:30AM
  • After Care 4:00PM - 6:00PM 

Flat rate of $20 for Before Care AND Flat rate of $20 for After Care, per day/per child! Any family looking to take advantage of these extended hours MUST REGISTER for extended care for staffing purposes!! ONE WEEK MINUMUM NOTICE REQUIRED for any extended care hours!

IMPORTANT: Due to the school's summer hours we CANNOT OFFER EXTENDED CARE HOURS ON RAINY DAYS when the program will be held at the Wood school! We will do our best to inform those families ASAP but the weather is out of our control! Families will be notified by 7AM the morning of in case of inclement weather. We appreciate your understanding in this situation.


Inclement Weather Policy

On any day there will be inclement weather (heavy rain, extended rain, thunder storms, etc.) the Summer Recreation Program will be held at the Wood School (72 Messenger street). Drop-Off/Pick-Up will take place at the side entrance toward the back of the school. DO NOT go through the front or side door by the office. 

The Park Department will notify ALL Families by 8AM the morning of if we will be holding our program at the Wood School. In the case of unexpected inclement weather AFTER drop-off we will bus the children to the Wood School and notify all parents that pick-up will be at the Wood School. If we get passing showers we will stay under the pavilion.

PLEASE NOTE: The school hours are 8:30AM - 3:30PM so our program will END 30 minutes earlier! We cannot control these hours and appreciate your cooperation with the pick-up time. NO EXTENDED CARE HOURS on inclement weather days!


LATE Sign-Ups Policy

ONE WEEK MINIMUM NOTICE REQUIRED for ANY registration, weekly OR daily. Registration MUST be received by the Wednesday PRIOR to the week you are signing up for! All programs are filled on a first come first serve basis. The Park Department will do our best to fulfill any request that is received within a timely manner. Registrations received outside of these time restraints are subject to dismissal due to staffing preparation, safety concerns, etc. PLEASE plan ahead and sign-up your child(ren) ASAP to avoid missing out!


Swimming Lesson Discount

Any child signed up for 2+ full weeks of the Summer Recreation Program will be able to take swim lessons during each day for both weeks at a 50% discount! Camp staff ensures any child taking swim lessons makes it to and from their lesson each day!

Payment 

Payments can be made at the Park Dept. office, dropped in the lock box in front of town hall or mailed to: Plainville Park Department, P.O. Box 1717, Plainville, MA  02762. Due to the different fees for each family we are unable to offer online payments for the Summer Recreation Program.

A non-refundable deposit of $50 per week/per child is due at registration.

Payment Due Dates: The balance for weeks 1-4 is due by July 1st (7/1). The balance for weeks 5-8 is due by July 27th (7/27).


Counselor in Training (CIT) Program

The CIT program is for boys and girls entering 9th & 10th grade in September 2018.  The CIT program is best suited for students who are interested in working with children in the future, want to gain leadership experience and desire to work alongside Recreation Staff.

Returning CIT's must register with the Park Department and list their top 3 week preferences. Each CIT will receive 2 weeks max for the Summer Program. Returning CIT's will have priority. All returning CIT's will be accepted regardless of grade they are entering!

NEW CIT Candidates need to fill out a town application and will be interviewed.  Applications will be accepted May 1st - May 31st. Selections are made based on individual qualifications, as well as the needs of our program. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee every week that is requested.

Cost per week for the CIT program is $75 per child.
